Life Insurance; because you care about their future!

I would like to emphasize the importance of getting affordable life insurance while you are healthy.  Being healthy is a major factor in qualifying for coverage.   Once a person develops certain serious health conditions, those risk factors increase the cost of the monthly premiums, and sometimes can cause an applicant to be declined!  One’s age also affects the cost, so getting life insurance will be relatively inexpensive while you are younger.

It can be challenging, if not impossible, to purchase additional coverage once certain serious pre-existing health conditions are in one’s medical records.  If we wait until our 50’s, 60’s, or older to buy an adequate life insurance policy, it may no longer be very affordable.  We tend to take our good health for granted, as if we believe we will never be affected by a serious accident or illness!  So we say to ourselves, “I’ll take care of that later, when I am not so busy.  I don’t have time for that right now.”

Unfortunately for some people, that procrastination can lead to missed opportunities.  In these hectic times, most of us do consider ourselves to be very busy.  The slower pace of those “good old days” is not very realistic for most average Americans.  We are always on the go, constantly trying to keep a healthy balance between our responsibilities, our goals, and our personal needs.  We must decide what is important, and MAKE time to attend to it!  It should be a priority, rather than just a nice idea to pursue one day!

I decided to address this topic because the reality of our human mortality touched my own  life very recently.  One of my family members passed away in August, 2011.  While tending to the necessary funeral arrangements, etc, the family realized that our loved one did not have enough life insurance to pay for all of those final expenses.  He had bought inexpensive life insurance many years ago, based on the cost of living at the time of his purchase!  Due to health conditions in later years, he was unable to qualify for any additional life insurance.  How could he have predicted any of this?  Indeed, how can any of us know what the future holds for us?  Remember, there is no time like the PRESENT to address such an important issue.  Things can change in a heartbeat!
